Eye Contact and Focus

Eye contact

We use placeboards to help with focus work. You can purchase place boards or make your own using a pallet or mat. Just make sure like all training you are consistent. Do not use your puppies name to get them on the board just say "place". You can use their name to bring them off the board. If they struggle getting on one board then you put two together until they are happy going on and off. Once they have mastered that you can remove one board.

Then you will work at gradually building up the duration on the board while getting eye contact with you puppy.

Keep these session really short as this work is intensive. Always put your placeboard away after your training session. You do not want your puppy to use the placeboard for anything other than placeboard training.
