As mentioned in the introduction only use the word "place" to get your dog on to the board and their name to release them from the board. Regardless of the age of your dog if you using placeboards for the first time, use two together to ensure your dog is going on and off the placeboard confidently,

Keep your dog on a lead so that you can guide them on saying them "place". As soon as the dog is on the board click and reward.
