Steadiness is now something being brought into other exercises. So don't let your dog get every retrieve sit them up and go and get some yourself. When retrieves are going out you are working up to your dog being sat steady off lead. Steady to shot. So now nearly every training exercise you do will require a certain amount of steadiness as part of it.

It is encouraged to go back to earlier stages of training at all times with your dogs, so you run through more basic steadiness exercises as part of your ongoing training.
