In Gundog Beginner you will be expected to do two marked retrieves back to back. All delivery must be to hand. Gradually build up the distance of the marked retrieves, doing one at a time. Once that is reliable you can bring the second marked retrieve in straight after the first. You can keep your dog on a lead until you are ready to send it at this level of training.
