Introducing Jumping

Introduction to Jumping

Before introducing jumping into your dog's training, please ensure they are physically mature enough and ready for this type of exercise. Jumping places additional impact on the body, so it is important not to rush this stage.

As you will see in the tutorial, we begin with something very simple — little more than a step for your dog. The aim at this stage is not height, but building confidence, understanding and a willingness to move over an obstacle calmly.

Start with low, easy exercises and allow your dog to understand what is being asked before gradually increasing the challenge. Always make sure your dog is comfortable and confident before progressing.

As with all training, take your time and focus on quality rather than rushing to the finished exercise. A dog that is confident and understands the basics will progress much more easily as the exercises become more advanced.

As always, less is more. Build confidence first, and the ability will follow.
